At 11:47am today, old man winter will once again be in the spotlight as we officially ring in the winter season.  However, even though the calendar says winter, Mother Nature is singing a different tune with spring temperatures and possibly even spring thunderstorms expected over the next few days. 

To start, spring won't be such a bad thing this Monday afternoon.  As south winds take over highs will top off in the mid-to-upper 60s, dewpoints (our moisture) will increase and slowly clouds will begin to filter back in.  Overall, a sign of things to come...but still a great day to get out and do some of that last minute Christmas shopping.

Overnight, mostly cloudy skies build in and our low temperatures should actually occur before midnight, with temperatures slowly rising as we head towards sunrise.  Highs on Tuesday under mostly cloudy skies will top off closer to 70 with a slight chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms by the afternoon.  Any thunderstorms that do develop, especially overnight Tuesday, could have the potential for small hail.  As it stands this Monday morning, we'll keep that chance at about a 30%.

And then there is Wednesday.  As we stare down the barrel of our upper level system, a pre-frontal trough will push through the Lone Star State, acting as a pseudo-dryline.  Highs should creep into the lower 70s, dewpoints in the mid-60s and a screaming fast jet stream over us helping to create instability.  That being said, the Brazos Valley and Southeast Texas is under a slight risk for severe weather Wednesday afternoon.  The greater threat for the risk will lie off to our east where there is a better chance for a squall line to develop, but, that's not to say its not out of the question that thunderstorms could fire up here in our backyard with the potential for strong wind, some hail and a very isolated chance of a tornado.  Again, right now, those chances are right about 50% heading into Wednesday night.

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day:  Our cold front pushes through, skies will clear and chilly weather is expected just in time for Ol' St. Nick's arrival.  Overnight lows heading into Christmas morning, for many, will be down around freezing with sunny, chilly weather during the day.
