Friday Update--Rainy End to the Week

Updated: Fri 10:16 AM, Jan 15, 2010

This morning our upper level weather maker is slowly moving across Northern Mexico and the Big Bend region.  Ahead of the actual low, rain continues to fall heavily from Central and South Texas while the Brazos Valley has seen waves of passing scattered showers.   As we head into the beginning of the weekend, from time to time, don't be surprised to find a little rain falling.

Here is the latest:

Friday:  With the rain spreading in this morning, we'll keep a 60% chance of scattered showers in the forecast.  Now for Milam, Burleson, Washington, Austin Counties and points to the west, rain is more constant, so most likely some form of light to moderate rain will be possible through the rest of today.  For the rest of us, showers are likely, but don't expect it to rain all day long.  While wide spread road and flooding concerns are not anticpated, like we are seeing from the Hill Country and South Texas, there could be areas on the road, especially in our western areas, that you could find some ponding of water.  Take some caution and drive a little slower on those slick streets.

Saturday:  Most of our lingering activity, as we begin to work our way to the backside of this system, should fall during the morning hours.  Our latest models, show the low moving far enough to the east by day's end that a little sunshine might even peak its way out of the clouds.

Sunday:  Our soggy system clears well to the east and we'll salvage the weekend under mostly sunny skies with highs in the 60s.

Enjoy the weekend, stay dry and remember you can always send us rain totals or pictures via Twitter through @KBTXWeather or @KBTXShel
