Minus the wind, the weather has been beautiful over the past couple of days.  And dare I say it, this morning was the first chill of the season.  In fact, morning lows dropped into the 30s and 40s area wide, with the lowest temperature of the morning going to Centerville reporting in at 32° with a light frost on the windshield. 

Moisture Creeps In, Temperatures Warm Up

High pressure sliding to the east of Texas through today means a return to southeast winds.  Southeast winds directed out of the Gulf of Mexico that transport more moisture into the atmosphere.  So say goodbye to these chilly morning lows and mild highs and give a big ol' howdy to lows back in the 60s, highs in the 80s and clouds in the sky.  That being said, it isn't all bad news as moisture is going to to be needed in order to get a bit of much needed rain in the forecast...

Sunday Rain Chance?

As dewpoints (a measure of the moisture in the atmosphere) recover into the 60s by the weekends, we'll be looking for something to trigger rain -- and we just may get it.  As a small disturbance works through the northwest flow over the Brazos Valley, rain and thunderstorms will be possible in North Texas by Saturday and then transition to our backyard on Sunday as this system drops southeast. Overall, rain chances don't look incredibly great, however, we'll hold in a 20% to 30% shot for isolated showers and thunderstorms Saturday night and on into Sunday morning. 

Wait, Fall Weather is Gone Already? It Just Got Here

I know, I hear you! My thoughts as well.  BUT...here is the good news.  Another vigorous, upper-level trough will dig down the Plains starting early next week.  By late Wednesday night and into the early hours of Thursday morning, our next cold front is scheduled for the Brazos Valley.  Take this extended forecast with a grain of salt, as two of the big long-range models are showing two different scenarios playing out.  Both say cold front, sure -- but one says a slight chance of rain and then cooler temperatures, the other says a better chance of rain and then cooler temperatures.  In West Texas, one says lows in the 60s the night after the front while the other says lows in the 30s and snow -- so we still have some issues to work out.  Either way, it looks like another blast of Fall is headed our way about this time next week -- stand by for details!
