Looking for the hat trick when it comes to rain in our forecast.  For the past two mornings (Sunday and today), the Brazos Valley has woke up to rain hitting the window and a bit of thunder for some as well. Guess what....don't put that umbrella away just yet! We have yet another chance for showers and thunderstorms in the forecast to kick off your Tuesday morning!

Moderate Drought

...that's what most of the Brazos Valley is classified as.  Granted that classification doesn't include the rain we've had over the past couple of days.  The weekly Drought Monitor data is taken each Tuesday morning -- so really, even the rain that falls tomorrow won't be counted until next week.  Needless to say...it's a process.

We are trying to take in as much rain as possible.  Here's a look at the 48 hour rainfall for a few locations in the Brazos Valley (as of Monday evening):

While we may be in a drought, technically, we are working on a surplus of rain -- so far -- in 2013.

And...we can always use more!

Soggy Tuesday Morning

As the lagging part of an upper-level trough swings across the Rockies towards Texas -- we'll kick up our rain chances for one last time this week.

Winter Storm Watches and Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for the Texas Panhandle this evening / tomorrow as they look for the possibility of 6" - 9" of snow to fall, with localized areas up to 1 foot not out of the question.

For the Brazos Valley, along with Central and Eastern Texas, we'll find a round of scattered rain and the occasional thunderstorm sweeping from the west to the east.  Tuesday morning looks to be the soggy part of the day -- followed by a drier, breezy and even sunnier finish to the second day of the week.

While this won't be the biggest soaking ever -- we should be able to pick up some more of that needed rainfall to add to our surplus.  Notice that the PinPoint Forecast is bringing higher totals of rain in our southern counties -- that's where we could have some heavier downpours tomorrow morning.
