What a B-E-A-utiful weekend across the Brazos Valley.
Although we started off on a cold note -- 30s and low 40s -- on Saturday morning, sunshine took care of business and afternoon highs reached the 70s after last week's cool down.
After what seems like a lackluster Winter, void of big temperature swings, Spring is making up for lost time as another cold front has it's eyes set on the Brazos Valley.
Monday Bring a Typical Spring Day
Highs are expected to reach either 79° or 80° across the Brazos Valley today. Plain and simple.(Splitting hairs at that point, right?) Our average high for today is 80° on the dot -- so we'll call that good enough to make for an average April afternoon.
Winds will be breezy from time to time -- blowing from the SSE at 5-15mph -- but otherwise, get outside after work or school today because it will be a whole new ballgame come quitting time Tuesday.
On to the Next One
...double your cold fronts and make them stack.
When we wake up on Tuesday morning, life will be life as normal in the Brazos Valley. Take a glance up stream and we are talking about a soon-to-be change headed our way.
Amarillo is expecting highs in the 80s this afternoon. When they wake up tomorrow morning, there's a chance that snow will be flying around on their morning commute. So, there's that...
As of Monday morning, it looked like our cold front should step off the train around 4pm to 5pm Tuesday. Afternoon highs will once again top off around 80° -- but like our last fronts, once that north wind turns around, temperatures will quickly start falling.
While it looks rather unimpressive at the moment, there could be a few isolated showers / isolated thunderstorms along or ahead of Tuesday's front. (20%)
Cooler, Breezy, Cloudy, Rain?
All of the above look to be the theme for Wednesday. The "iffy factor" will be rain.
Highs struggle to reach the mid-60s for the mid-week, as a breezy north wind will take over behind the front and gray, overcast skies sit above. There could be a few light, scattered showers dancing across this cool Brazos Valley -- especially during the morning hours.
Hang in There
Temperatures start to climb back into the 80s by the end of the week / weekend. You may want to keep an umbrella in the backseat or near the door -- there could be a few more isolated showers / thunderstorms that pop up and move through the area Friday, Saturday, & Sunday...but more on that in the coming days.
