Two mornings in a row that we have had the privilege of waking up to Mother Nature's own alarm clock -- RAIN! After picking up a few tenths of an inch of rain on Monday morning, the Brazos Valley received anywhere from 1" to 1.5" of the much needed wet stuff this morning as a cold front sliced south through the area. Here are some of our Weather Watcher totals:
Something to be thankful about this Thanksgiving -- but we still have a long way to go in terms of ending our drought. In fact, we still need about 1" of rain between now and December 31st in order to NOT claim the title of the driest year on record in Bryan / College Station.
Pleasant Thanksgiving Outlook--
Now that our cold front has passed on by, the official kick off to the holiday season will feel...well...holiday like! Clear skies work back into the picture by Tuesday afternoon and stick around through Thursday. Overnight lows will fall into the mid-to-upper 40s with daytime highs rebounding to the low 70s Wednesday and the mid 70s by Thursday.
Another Decent Shot at Rain--
High pressure will move into the area on Wednesday and then quickly pull to the east by Thursday 
afternoon, once again allowing Gulf moisture to work back into the area. Unlike the past couple of weeks where we would cool off and then spend a few days in the humid 80s, this next upper-level storm system will be pretty quick moving, meaning a shot at rain followed by even COOLER temperatures! Friday night / early Saturday morning looks to be the time frame (for now) for our next cold front / rain maker. If enough moisture can collect, we could be looking at another soaking of 0.5" to 1.5" of rain for the area (fingers crossed). Once this front moves past, cool air will continue to funnel into the area, thanks to a stalled out low spinning just to our northeast, resulting in highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s for a few days. Still some work on the timing and strength of this next system, but something to look forward to in the near future. Stand by...
