Rain, Rain everywhere -- well....for most of us. Over the past several days, 40% rain chances or greater have been in the forecast, and -- for most -- decent rain has fallen. While some folks have picked up one, two and even near 5 inches of rain since Saturday, others haven't seen more than a few sprinkles. While some are finding localized flooding issues from time to time, others are asking "Where's my rain?!" If you are one of those -- no worries -- we still have plenty of the wet stuff in the forecast.
Recent Area Rainfall
Some pretty big rain totals have been coming into the PinPoint Weather Center -- in fact, some spots have had good, heavy downpours off and on for a couple of days now. Here are some of the Weather Watcher totals from Monday afternoon / evening:
Bryan / College Station (official: Easterwood Airport) -- 0.66"
Carlos -- 1.80"
Snook -- 1.75"
Centerville -- 1.19"
Kurten -- 0.30"
Madisonville -- 2.75" (fell in a short hour to hour and a half prompting a Flood Advisory for a few hours)
Since Saturday, Centerville has accumulated 4.15" of rainfall. While all that much needed rain is a blessing and great to see, now that the ground is saturated, we will have to watch for passing heavy downpours that could cause issues for a short while on area roadways.
More Rain In The Forecast
As a weak front slowly sags to the south over the next couple of days, mixed with plenty of tropical moisture overhead and a broad area of low pressure extending from South East Texas towards the Arklatex -- rain chances will continue to stay healthy in the forecast. In fact, Tuesday holds the greatest chance for rain at a 70% shot due to the high level of moisture in the atmosphere.
As activity begins to pop up, it will remain widely scattered across the area. With this muggy, tropical air mass in place, heavy downpours will be common along with possible cloud-to-ground lightning and isolated strong downburst winds.
Here is the outlook from PinPoint Forecast over the next 24 hours:
