After a foggy start to this Thursday morning, we are on our way to another beautiful day here in the Brazos Valley.  Sunny skies this afternoon will help warm highs into the mid-to-upper 60s area wide.  With a northwest flow aloft -- where the jet stream runs from the Pacific Northwest to Texas -- expect generally quiet and fantastic weather to close out 2011 with.

Warmer Than It Should Be

Based off climatology, the normal low and high for this time of the year is 41° and 61°, respectfully. We've been on a warming trend for a couple of days now -- and now that a south wind has returned to the Brazos Valley, we'll look for highs to continue to climb into the low 70s by Friday and Saturday afternoons.  By that same token, overnight lows, while still chilly, will only manage to bottom out in the mid 40s tonight and low 50s for Friday and Saturday nights.

New Year's Day Cool-off

Next cold front still on target to slide into our backyard on Sunday morning.  That means 1) New Year's Eve plans are looking good as temperatures slide from the low 60s into upper 50s by midnight and rain staying at bay.  That will change around sunrise New Year's Day as the front pushes in.  A few showers will be possible along and ahead of the front followed by wind chilled highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Sunny skies will be around -- for the most part -- the first week of 2012, but it will be colder with highs on Monday struggling to reach the upper 40s to low 50s.  Enjoy the unseasonal warmth now, but be ready for a quick cool down next week.
