I know...I know...it's hot. Trust me, I know.  If you gave me a choice between cloudy and 32° vs. sunny and 100°+ I'd take the colder, bundle up weather anyday of the week.

The good news is that after all of this triple digit heat this week, it still looks like we'll be rewarded as we head into the weekend with a Late Summer Cold Front pushing through Texas and the Brazos Valley.  That being said -- we're not quite there yet...Thursday and Friday afternoons will still have 100° to 102° as highs for most.

Cold Front...Come on Down! 

We've talked about it all week long and we touched on it in detail in yesterday's Wednesday Weather Blog.   The difference between what we talked about yesterday and today is the timing of this front.  In fact, if you go back and look at the details from yesterday, you'll notice that the timing of this front seems to have moved UP by a good six hours.

From the latest: 

Our pre-frontal trough -- aka a shift of winds to the north -- should swing through the Brazos Valley very early Saturday morning thorugh the mid-morning hours.  It is along this wind shift / trough axis that rain and thunderstorms would be the most likely.  How likely? Doesn't seem very good...more like a 20% chance through noon at the latest.  

From noon thorugh 3pm or 4pm, the cooler air that is coming with this cold front should start to trickle into the Brazos Valley on breezy to gusty north to northwest winds.  Rain chances should be blown down to the coast and the actual front is likely to come through dry.

Saturday evening we should be on full "cold air advection" meaning that the cooler and drier air will continue to push into the Brazos Valley.  With clearing skies by Saturday afternoon -- or evening at the latest -- dry air and clear skies, overnight lows will fall into the low to mid 60s by Sunday morning.  

Sunday afternoon, highs will struggle to make the upper 80s to low 90s with falling lows into the possible upper 50s to low 60s.

All of this being said, there is still a chance that the upcoming data later today and tomorrow could once again speed up or slow down the arrival time of this cold front.  We'll keep you up with the latest and let you know what you need for whatever it is you've got going on this busy weekend in the Brazos Valley.
