Not much in the way of changes this week as temperatures across the board look to be right about where they should be for this time of the year. Small, almost unnoticeable changes will take place over the next couple of days to keep things feeling just as January should here in the Brazos Valley.
Weak Wednesday Cold Front
A southwest wind and generally sunny sky is helping to nudge highs into the mid-60s for most of us by this afternoon. (For perspective -- normal high this time of the year is 60°) Right around sunset, our next cold front will quietly slide into the area, helping to knock temperatures back by just a few degrees and keep us close to our climatological normal for this time in January. Winds will remain generally below 10mph and, with a dry atmosphere in place, rain chances will stay out of the forecast. Overall, as the front moves in, other than a breeze of wind not many will notice that it is here. With a bit more moisture in our southern counties, there may be a bit more cloud cover or patchy fog late this evening before the front comes knocking on your door.
Weekend Question Marks
If you were with us for Tuesday's blog -- we talked about the extended forecast and how there were some lingering questions thanks to inconsistencies in our long range computer model outputs. As of this morning -- things are still about as clear as mud. Best forecast to give you looks like this:
We'll continue to fine-tune the forecast over the next couple of days as these 'ol computers get a better handle on just how our next potential weather maker will play out.
Eastern US Cold Snap
Just for an interesting tidbit this Wednesday -- most of Florida was colder than Texas & a
goodportion of the United States today as Freeze Warnings and Wind Chill Advisories were in place as far south as Miami. In fact, our highs here in the Brazos Valley are slated to be warmer than Tampa and Miami. Not something that happens very often throughout the year.
