Don't let me take away from the fact that the weather has been beautiful across the Brazos Valley the past several days -- it just hasn't exactly been "end of November esque" when it comes to your temperatures.  Afternoon highs have been topping off 10° to 12° or so ABOVE the normal for this time of the year, and it looks like it will continue for a few more days.

Let me flip the script on that last paragraph, though.  Think these upper 70s and expected low 80s are too warm for the few days leading up to Thanksgiving?  Try this on for size: one year ago today (Wednesday, November 21st) we set a new record high of 85°.  So while not far from it, top temperatures today, in the upper 70s to extreme low 80s, doesn't seem quite as bad...does it?

Changes Ahead 

High pressure in the upper-levels of the atmosphere is giving us a quiet and warm Thanksgiving Day eve.  As quick as that high pressure has moved in, it will continue to move right back out and to the east of the Brazos Valley.

Cloud cover and even scattered showers are / will be ongoing today across New Mexico / El Paso / West Texas.  That moisture will transition it's way towards the area tonight / tomorrow -- resulting in partly cloudy skies returning on your Thanksgiving Thursday.

A large upper-level low that has absolutely drenched parts of the Pacific Northwest continues to march inland today, slowly improving their weather outlook.  That system will continue it's journey east, eventually bringing a cold front into our backyard that will help spark up a small chance for showers through noon on Friday, followed by more seasonable weather by Saturday (highs in the 60s, lows in the upper 30s / low 40s).  For what it's worth, travel may be delayed a bit anywhere from Seattle to North California this day before Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Forecast 

That cold front we were just talking about should make it into the Texas Panhandle by tomorrow.  That will lead to a slight 20% to 30% chance of scattered showers from West Texas to Oklahoma City -- here at home, we'll continue with a mildly warm, partly cloudy outlook.

Temperatures will start off in the cool 50s Turkey Day morning and then warm into the upper 70s by the afternoon.  While close, the added cloud cover tomorrow should help keep highs in the 70s.  While you'll have to ditch the sweater with the big turkey on it, it will be great weather for the kids and grand kids to get outside while the feast is prepared!
