My remembrances of the 1980s involve Sesame Street, GI Joes, my dog Duke, and Bon Jovi. I often sang "Livin' on a Prayer" from the top of my backyard slide in Oklahoma. I wish I knew what Duke thought of all that.
The B/CS Chamber of Commerce apparently hated my reporting from Washington, DC so much that they wanted me to be a part of Ladies Night in a few days. I'll be performing at the Hilton on the night of all things 1980s along with Jon Boaz and KBTX.com's resident B/CS reviewer, Jordan Meserole, who was also in Washington with me in May. He, too, must have done horrible work. Nobody asked The Analog Kid to perform.
In all seriousness, I'm told it's a lovely evening despite the eventual embarrassment I will be subjected to that night. I'll keep what I'll be performing a secret, but I need help getting whipped into shape for the night the 80s return. I won't be wearing my performance garb all night, and my first idea for a costume change was going to be to wear footie pajamas, a bonnet, a bib and a pacifier.
Barbara, who (says she) didn't dislike the idea, decided on another. After a shopping trip together Wednesday afternoon, I believe she and I have got all the elements for a leather clad, mulleted rocker, much like the members of the band I would go see at the Bluebird club in my college days. I'm willing to bet we'll discuss this on Brazos Valley This Morning in the days leading up to Ladies Night.
My questions to you are: what was your apparel of choice in the 80s, and what, if any, suggestions do you have for me? There's still time if you've got a fantastic idea...leave your comments above, but PLEASE keep it affordable.
