I wanted to take time to acknowledge a couple of regular viewers of Brazos Valley This Morning who have a big day coming up and a big moment in their lives.

This coming Monday, after more than 32 years serving this country, my dad is retiring from the United States Air Force. Maj. Gen. Randy Fullhart has held seemingly countless jobs over those years, flown in a pair of armed conflicts as well as in Cold War operations, headed up military schools, helped lead the country's intelligence experts in defense of the nation, and prepared the next generation of America's leaders.

Alongside him every step of the way has been my mom. If you ever had any doubts that being a military spouse is a full-time job, look no further than her service as a counselor, entertainer and confidant for thousands of military families over the years.

I spent the first 18 years of my life at a number of different schools in different places across this country and around the world, each with different people to meet, different obstacles to overcome, and different successes to achieve. Through all of it, I had two constants, and I'm lucky to still have them a phone call (or plane trip) away. Their support of their only child is unquestionably a main reason I've achieved whatever I have today.

My parents are off to Blacksburg, Virginia now, ready to take on a fantastic new challenge. My dad will be the new commandant of the Corps of Cadets at Virginia Tech University. There are only two civilian institutions of higher education in this country that have corps. I'll stick around here and cover one of them. Dad will lead the other, shaping young men and women's lives in preparation for service to their country.

For their tireless service, Dad and Mom are, without question, my heroes, and if only for a short moment, I'd hope you'd think of them as yours, too.
