A neat feature with your Pinpoint Forecast (an in-house forecast model that's run from the News 3 weather center) is the ability to initiate a special forecast update for significant weather events. The typical update times with the Pinpoint Forecast is at midnight, 6 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m. These are also the update times for the standard forecast models used by the National Weather Service and other organizations.
When necessary, we can start a new run of the Pinpoint Forecast with fresh, updated data at any hour, 24-hours a day! We're not expecting any significant weather Thursday, but I thought I'd give the special update feature a try. After starting a new forecast run at 7:00 a.m., the Pinpoint Radar is forecasting a few showers at 11:00 a.m. in eastern Montgomery county.
