The Twin Cities officially picked up 2.09" inches of rain on Tuesday, which was a single-day record for August 12th. This total also put a nice dent in the rainfall deficit -- we are now just over 2.5 inches below average for the year.
Bryan/College Station has 0.17 inches of rain between midnight and noon. As of 12:38 that total jumped up to 1.53 inches -- that's some beneficial rain.
How much have you picked up today?
Scattered heavy rain will continue Tuesday afternoon and evening. Most of this activity is not severe, but we have noted several cloud-to-ground lightning strikes on Fastrac. Such lightning is especially dangerous so try to avoid being outdoors if you happen to hear large claps of thunder.
