February 22-28th is severe weather awareness week across the state of Texas. This is a very important time of year as we basically take time out to provide as much education as we can on the different types of weather we experience -- and most importantly how you can stay safe!
Starting Sunday, February 22 we will highlight a different topic on severe weather each day during the evening news and right here at KBTX.com.
Skywarn 2009 classes will also take place across the region next week through the first week in March. These free storm spotter training courses are hosted by the National Weather Service.
A mock tornado warning will also be issued at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25th by the National Weather Service. This will give schools and businesses an opportunity to conduct a "real-time" tornado drill to evaluate whether or not modifications need to be made. The warning will be broadcast on NOAA weather radios and right here at KBTX.com.
Let us know if you have any questions or thoughts concerning severe weather.
