The record high for May 8th is safe. We hit 91 degrees Friday afternoon, two degrees lower than the record of 93 which was set back in 2003.
Although we didn't break the record, temperatures will remain warm over the next week, and the humidity will make it feel even warmer!
It has been pretty warm over the past few days. In addition to daytime highs reaching into the upper 80s, low temperatures have only dropped to around 73-75 degrees this week. Average highs for the beginning of May should be in the lower 80s, with average lows in the lower 60s.
The forecast high for Friday is 92 degrees. The record for May 8th is 93 degrees, set in 2003. Temperatures are forecast to reach the century-mark in West Texas, and it is not entirely impossible that we won't break our record high temperature today. We'll see.
