As of August 20th, the National Weather Service
is reporting the warmest summer on record for Bryan/College Station.
Looking at data from June through August 20th (since 1901) the following holds true:- 2009 has the warmest average temperature ever at 87.7 degrees. This is the overall temperature, not just the high.- 2009 has the second warmest average high temperature at 99.2 degrees. The average high was 100 in 1917 and 99 in 1998.- 2009 has the second warmest average low temperature at 76.2. The average low was 77.1 in 1902 and 75.3 in 1998.GOOD NEWS:
In theory, the average high temperature will fall into the upper 80s -- the average low in the upper 60s -- by the end of September, which just happens to be the beginning of fall. This is all in theory :-)
