Hurricane Isaac has left it's mark on the Gulf Coast and as the rains that flooded parts of Louisiana and Mississippi move on to where they are much needed in Arkansas, Missouri etc, our forecast become typical once again for the end of August / beginning of September.

Steering Isaac Out / Moving Gulf Moisture In

High pressure over the Southeastern United States (mainly centered over Florida today) is serving  a very important purpose.  For one, it is finally getting the remnants of Isaac out of the hair of the Gulf Coast and is responsible for moving the storm system north through Missouri and then into the Westerlies across the northern half of the country which will eventually take all that rain into the very Northern Atlantic Ocean.  

That same area of high pressure will spend tonight and tomorrow sliding further south into the Eastern Gulf of Mexico -- which, in turn, will bring a slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms into our Labor Day Weekend forecast.

Moisture will move out of the Bay of Campeche and into the Western Gulf throughout this Friday.  As it collects, it eventually will be directed towards the Texas Coastline by the clock-wise flow around our high pressure friend we have chatted about this morning.  By that same regard -- it's been hot but not as humid these past couple of days (thanks to gusty & dry northwest winds around Hurricane Isaac) but the humidity will quickly move back in today and through the weekend.

Will Labor Day Festivities Get Rained Out?!

Quick and easy: Not likely.  Even with that better moisture supply moving towards the area, our rain chance is only as good as a 20% shot Saturday and Sunday.  Isolated thunderstorms will be the best bet as we heat up during the afternoons (near or at the triple digit mark) along with the sea breeze trying to drift in from the south each day.

Labor Day Monday: Rain chances move out and mostly sunny, hot and humid take over.  Enjoy the "unofficial" end to summer but remember that things are a bit dry out there -- so keep a cautious eye on those BBQ grills.

Active Tropics

A real quick mention this morning on the activity in the Atlantic Ocean.  On the heels of Hurricane Isaac, Hurricane Kirk and Tropical Storm Leslie are stirring up the waters out to our east.  The good news is that both of these look to be recurving storms and are not anticipated to impact the US Coast.
