Rounding out the month of June has been a bit of a hot one out there. This past weekend started our trend of triple digit days with the peak of the heat hitting on Tuesday as Bryan / College Station slapping a record high of 106°, Huntsville tying a high of 104° and just about every location area wide reaching above the triple digit mark. Here's a look back at the first Heat Wave of the 2012 summer:

The good news? It looks like our triple digit days are numbered.........for now, that is. We managed to kiss 100° briefly this afternoon in Bryan / College Station but as we head into the weekend more moisture will bring on more cloud cover and temperatures that are slated to be back down to the "normal" range for this time of the year.
Weekend Umbrellas?
Have outdoor plans this weekend? No need to cancel on them -- however, you may need to plan
for a passing shower or thunderstorm. A good slug of tropical moisture, that was in the Bay of Campeche a few days ago, has managed to travel into the Mid-Western Gulf.
With high pressure situated over the Eastern Gulf of Mexico, it will 1) allow Florida a chance to dry out from Tropical Storm Debby's flooding rains and 2) swing this tropical moisture / upper level disturbance towards the Upper Texas Coast.

A few showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Friday afternoon, but it looks like Saturday and possibly even Sunday will provide the best chance to find scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Brazos Valley (with the best chance along the Southern, Central and Western portions of the area). Overall, we'll call it a 30% chance of rain both Saturday and Sunday.
As for those weekend plans, we don't anticipate a wash-out, but you may need to head inside for a half hour or so as a thunderstorm or two passes by. Some of these storms could come with thunder, cloud-to-ground lightning, heavy downpours and possibly even a bit of gusty winds and small hail within some of the stronger storms.
Of course, all the latest details on the forecast can be found on the weather page, and as always updates are posted to @KBTXWeather and @KBTXShel throughout the day.
