It may have been a noisy start to your Sunday morning, but a weak cold front driving in thunderstorms to the Brazos Valley also drove out some of that early June humidity!
After a few days of that "drier than normal feeling" you know what they say....all good things must come to an end.
Heating Up / Southerly Winds Return
In the upper-levels, high pressure has taken control of West, Southwest and South Texas along with most of Mexico. With us being on the fringe of that high pressure, rain chances remain next to nil and temperatures start to warm up once again. Sunday highs were around the mid-80s. Monday, Bryan / College Station only saw a high in the upper 80s. Today...a return to the low / mid 90s looks to be on hand.
Think that's too hot? Take a look out in West Texas & notice their triple digit heat. Feel better now?
By Wednesday, a weak cold front will enter the State of Texas bringing up rain chances for the northern half of the state (some storms could be severe) while dropping afternoon highs out of the triple digit mark for the Panhandle.
That front will work it's way into the Brazos Valley by Thursday, bringing rain chances back to the forecast. In terms of a more mild air mass moving in -- don't be on it. But with that front "washing out" near the area, we'll bring our best chance for rain in on Thursday and then possibly even manage to keep it around for Friday and Saturday on a very isolated to semi-scattered level. The devil will be in the details on this forecast, as better rain chances depend on where that front finally gives up the ghost and lingers.
Out in the Tropics
An area of disturbed weather is out in the Southern Gulf of Mexico and slowly drifting to the east / northeast.
As of this morning, the National Hurricane Center has given this area of low pressure a 30% (medium) chance of becoming an organized tropical system over the next 48 hours. While development isn't the best outlook for this -- it will still mean a good soaking of tropical rain over parts of Florida in the next few days.
