I love my job -- no doubt about that. Sure there are some days when all the cylinders fire vs. others where it doesn't seem like there is enough coffee in the world to keep the day moving along -- but in the grand scheme of it all, BVTM is my passion as is waking up alongside everyone in the Brazos Valley and providing a forecast for the upcoming day.
That being said, there are two days a year that I look forward to the most:
While the center point is the Breakfast -- this event is so much more. Fact is every bit
of food that is served is grown or sold right here in the Brazos Valley, not to mention the great group of farmers and ranchers who get up before the sun to cook the whole thing. That small tidbit of information is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to a great Ag Community that we have here in the area.
I'm honored to go out every year and talk with folks as they prepare for the breakfast. If you haven't been before, it happens every year on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (so go ahead and mark your calendar for 2013). More importantly, as you sit down with family, friends and loved ones this Thanksgiving, remember to give thanks to the farmers and ranchers, here in the Brazos Valley and across the country, that work hard to make it possible to dive into such a tasty and abundant meal.
Thanksgiving Travel Plans?
We touched on it in Monday's Weather Blog -- but for the most part, Thanksgiving Travel is looking good on Wednesday. As a large upper-level low slowly pushes inland, the Pacific Northwest is turning into a bit of a soggy mess (and could slow you down with your travels if you are headed in that direction). In fact, parts of that corner of the country received over 2 inches of rain on Monday!
A few showers will be possible over Southern New Mexico, El Paso and the Big Bend Region -- otherwise, it should be smooth sailing for travels. Here at home, don't expect to wear your sweater with the big turkey on it -- we'll be pushing temperatures closer to 80° by Thursday afternoon.
