In honor of the first real, cool temperatures in the Brazos Valley, I set a pot of chili on the stove yesterday afternoon for supper.  Had to get that first pot in -- as we've been telling you, we are due for quite a warm-up once again moving through the rest of this week and especially into the weekend.

Hello Moisture & Cloud Cover, Goodbye Chilly Mornings

Talk about the first chill of the year -- morning lows fell anywhere from the mid 40s to the low 50s on Sunday and Monday morning.  While it was still a cool start to the day, morning lows ranged a good 10 to 12 degrees warmer than yesterday as we kicked off this Tuesday.  Here's a look at the handful of "official" lows across the region this morning:

As southerly winds kick up to a breezy criteria this afternoon, moisture will advance into the Brazos Valley at a pretty quick pace.  Take dewpoints quickly rising back into the upper 60s to low 70s, mostly cloudy skies and warm air advection and tomorrow morning will be much more mild, humid and may even have a touch of patchy fog here and there throughout the area.  Here's a look at where we think temperatures will settle out at tonight:

From Long to Short Sleeves

Without a significant cool-down in our crystal ball over the next week or so, and with warm air rising out of the Gulf of Mexico throughout the week, expect afternoon highs to steadily climb warmer and warmer until they top off in the low 90s by the weekend.  Cloud cover should increase by the end of this upcoming weekend and into the beginning of next week -- that'll be enough to try and bring those afternoon highs back down closer to seasonal "normals" for this time in October.

Seasonal Fighting

No need to stress about the flip flop in temperatures -- we'll get back to cooler weather once again.  That being said, extremes this time of the year will stretch the entire run of the thermometer as summer tries to hold on while winter tries to land punches in from the north.  A quick look at the record books for today will remind us of that:
