Must be the changing of seasons -- Summer is doing all that it can to hang on while Fall is throwing punches from the north.  A strong cold front is the talk of not only Texas but much of the country these days -- and, for good reason -- it is going to be a doozy.

Snow! 

That's right....snow!  No...no snow here...but snow across states that share a border with Canada.  Since early this morning, snow was falling across parts of Northwest and North-Central Montana.  (Here's a look at the surface plot from 3am -- notice the asterisk signs near where it says CTB & GTF? That indicates that snow was falling when the latest observation was taken)

WINTER STORM WATCHES have been posted for northern portions of North Dakota and Minnesota as this same snow-making system continues to make it's move to the east.

NO Snow Here...But..... 

...how about a big time blast of Autumn air? The next 24 hours or so will be perfectly normal for early October standards in the Brazos Valley.  Afternoon highs will top off in the mid-80s under mostly sunny skies while overnight lows will fall into the low-to-mid 60s by Thursday morning.  That's where the wheels fall off...

...afternoon temperature will cruise into the lower 90s on Thursday and Friday as Summertime tries to get a few final punches in.  No need to panic.  That same cold front that is dropping temperatures enough to bring snow into the forecast for our friends in the Northern US will breeze into the area by mid-to-late Saturday.  Once it get here, mostly cloudy skies fill in, a few light showers will be possible and a stronger northerly wind will begin to bring temperatures down.  

You'll feel the biggest impact of this front on Sunday.  After waking up to the 50s for most of us, afternoon highs will struggle to make the upper 60s in our northern counties and the lower 70s for the rest of us.  Factor in that north wind blowing through at 10-20mph, with higher gusts likely, and it'll probably only feel as warm as the upper 60s (at most) late in the day on Sunday.
