Promising Preteen to Perform in Nashville
Country music fans listen to Jade Cienega the first time and can't believe the voice that comes out of her. The same can be said of the country legends she's gotten to meet.

When you enter the Cienega house, it seems like a normal enough family room: a pair of parents, some couches, a few games...a 12-year-old country singing sensation.
At the age of 10, Jade Cienega decided she wanted to sing.
"I saw another 10-year-old sing, and I thought, 'I think I can do it,'" she said. "So I just decided I can do it."
Now in year two of her career, she's already been named the most promising young country talent in the state twice. She performs at least once a week before hundreds, sometimes thousands of people. Her voice coach is the same person Leann Rimes uses. Among her friends: former President Bush, and legends like Ray Price and Leona Williams, who gave Jade a big opportunity for this coming June.
"She approached us about performing with her at the Troubadour in Nashville, Tennessee, during FanFare," said Jessie Cienega, Jade's father, "and that's a rather big deal over there because there's going to be hundreds and thousands of people."
"I'm just really excited that I get to go," Jade said. "I've always wanted to go there, so it's going to be interesting."
It may sound extraordinary for a 12-year-old to have this success, but her parents say she's as normal as a preteen future country star can be.
"She makes straight As," according to her mother, Carol. "She's very concerned about her school work. She loves what she's doing, so I don't have to force her to go and practice."
When asked what the best thing about singing and performing was, Jade said, "Seeing people and making them happy. It makes you feel real good inside."
And she'll feel even better in Nashville this summer.
