TYLER, Texas (AP) - Friends and family of a 21-year-old who East Texas woman police say was killed and mutilated by her boyfriend are trying to put aside the grisly details of her death.

Friends of Jana Shearer continued posting tributes and goodbyes Monday on what appeared to be her MySpace page.

Police say Shearer appeared to have died from blunt trauma to her head.

Officers found what's believed to be her ear boiling in a pot on a stovetop at the crime scene, and a hunk of flesh on a plate, impaled on a fork at the kitchen table.

Her boyfriend, Christopher Lee McCuin, is charged with capital murder in her death. He made his initial court appearance today.

Smith County Sheriff Lt. Larry Wiginton told the Tyler Morning-Telegraph that McCuin, 25, told investigators that God made him kill Shearer.

Authorities say it is unclear whether McCuin consumed any part of the woman's body.

Shearer's friend Amy Gage says she's trying to focus on Jana being a person who loved life, and not what happened to her.

Don't forget to tell them you were insane at the time. Also, tell them that you had a headache that day, too. Poor baby.
