In College Station, a heated race for Place 1 on the city council, ended with incumbent John Crompton defeating Derek Dictson.

Crompton said by reelecting him, voters sent two messages. The first message was that voters are in favor of his agenda.

"That agenda was neighborhood integrity first. Growth must pay for itself, and there must be growth management, and that we must green the city. The second message was citizens of this community said they will not accept the shameful, negative campaign which characterized that of my opponent and his allies."
