We are learning more about the victims of a deadly crash in Grimes County.

One was on his way home for a surprise mother's day visit. 29-year-old Phillip Bigbee was in the car that was hit by a second car which veered into his lane. Saturday, He was driving home to Brenham to surprise his mother for Mother's Day. Bigbee died at the scene.

44-year-old Eulalio Garza, the third, a Prairie View A&M professor, was also killed Saturday. Garza had just left graduation ceremonies. His funeral is set for Thursday.

A third man hurt in the crash is in critical condition.

Driver in-attention is the official cause of the crash.

Mr. Garza was not driving the car, he was the passenger.

I'm with you, Justme. I cannot imagine being the mother of the young man on his way to surprise her for Mother's Day. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of Mr. Bigbee and Mr. Garza.

I wonder if the idenfication of the inattentive driver as Jonathan Bohorquez in the related article turned out to be wrong. This almost seems to imply that Garza was driving. It's going to be terrible for the survivor either way; I don't know that it was involved in this case, but please, please, PLEASE put away those cell phones while you're on the road, or you'll sooner or later end up like these poor souls.

As bad as this horrible situation is, can you imagine losing your child on Mothers day? My heart goes out to all involved in this awful situation! God bless them all!
