A search warrant on a College Station home leads investigators to guns, drugs and an alleged marijuana-growing operation.

Daimen Godfrey, 29, and Lauren Thomas, 22, were arrested Thursday morning at a house in the 500 block on Gilbert Street. Authorities confiscated more than 2.7 pounds of marijuana along with 11 more plants in various stages of growth. Also seized were a gram of cocaine, a stolen handgun and an illegal short-barreled shotgun.

Bond has yet to be set for either Godfrey or Thomas who remain in the Brazos County jail.

Anonymous, VERY TRUE! I have seen the increase in crime and the decrease in catching these criminals. College Station Police department lacks a lot and gets credit for the easy catch. College Station cops would rather just give students hell with Speeding, DWI, MIPS and Noise Complaints. There are real criminals out there and will still be out there if the police system don't change. Instead of red light cameras make Neighborhood cams in the worst neighborhoods and put them under surveillance. Make are neighborhoods safer. I am sure a lot of us wouldn't mind a extra eye on our neighborhoods. All i know is I would rather handle the situation myself than to call the cops here. I feel sorry for anyone who breaks in my home or robs me. I would make it clear for them how justice is served this side of town.

Thank you College Station Police Department for locking this trash up. You have a very dangerous, difficult job and I appreciate the hard work you do to make this community safer.

CS crime rate is on the rise. CS has better pickings. Look out CS. Our drug dealers are now your drug dealers. Bryan Police have more experience in this type of crime. Bryan criminals are now going into CS. Soon the Police shootings will start, Just like Bryan. BPD has the top record on this also. CS will play catch-up. Nice of CS to put up the Katrina people in apts. near the Walmart in CS. Look at the crime rate in this area since the Hurricane. Shooting,Robbery,Car break-ins and Assaults. CS response times are going up. Areas patrolled are getting larger. The last CS Chief said something about it. He is no longer employed. PS. Stay out of the west side of Bryan. We are working on it.

I agree lola!,but why would they go back when we gave them the run of the twin cities?? We probably pay for the house that was busted! Maybe after they get OUR ALWAYS PROBATION they'll relocate back to my home-town Houston!

Hey BOB, where do you live? How about we let these "non violent" folks with their guns move in next door to you and see how you like that.

Posted by: Dale Location: Bryan on May 16, 2008 at 05:06 PM
Non violent? Hmmm, wonder what they were doing with a stolen pistol and a sawed off shotgun? Doesn't sound non violent to me.

Bob and big bills...Our justice system does have flaws, but every single law enforcement officer, judge, jury, and prison official will tell you that folks that have drugs, guns (illegally), and steal are the main problem in society. Do you think there's as many murders in this world than drug addicts? You can call them non-violent all you want, but level of violence is not in indicator as breaking the law! So called "small busts" like this do have a major impact on the war on drugs. But maybe you just don't get it.

Wow! CS just can't stay out of the news...I think I'll move to Bryan where the crime rate is at least constant and not on the rise like in CS...

yes big bills, you are correct - our "injustice" system is all messed up - needs some major changes ASAP. But that kind of stuff happens all the time. We as a state and a country need to CHANGE THINGS!!

Posted by: BOB Location: BCS on May 16, 2008 at 10:30 AM
More non-violent law breakers tying up the system and wasting time and money on something that was harming no one but themselves...small busts like this have no effect on the so called war on drugs...just more fodder for the television to convince you that law-enforcement is having an impact on things...sure...

Posted by: lola on May 16, 2008 at 08:49 AM
Isnt it time they go back! we bring them here to help them...and now there growing plants!

Funny how Mr. Hamilton got probation for murder and these two will go to prison for weed. This blows my mind. (no pun intended). Our justice system has major flaws!!!!

Ok, so which agency ran the warrant? You didn't say. I also heard this guy was from New Orleans.

Posted by: Cynthia Location: Bryan on May 15, 2008 at 06:17 PM
