With dedication, a big heart and lots of love, Jason Hamilton is working to bring a unique summer camp to the Brazos Valley.

Kingdom Ranch will be a Christian camp dedicated to serving children with special needs.

"This camp is going to be built for the kids. It's not about me, it's not about the camp, it's not going to be about a board of directors or anyone involved," said Jason Hamilton, camp founder.

Hamilton says the need for a camp like this in Texas is great. According to a national survey, Texas alone has more than 722,000 children with special needs. As it stands now, Kingdom Ranch will be able to hold about 50 campers at a time.

"Right now we're going to be pretty tight, but we're just going to work with what we have to work with and grow as we grow," said Hamilton.

Kingdom Ranch plans to host children from June to August. There will be a one to one camper to counselor ratio. Hamilton says each week will focus on a different disability, that way the kids can connect with others who struggle through life with the same issues.

"They get to pull from each others strengths and help one another out. The siblings are also allowed to come to camp as well and be around other siblings that have a brother or sister with a disability," said Hamilton.

Kingdom Ranch will be ready for its first campers in July. By then everything from the new ropes course to cabins will be accessible to children with all types of disabilities.

"It's for them so when the kids come out here they're able to do anything and everything at camp that they wouldn't do anywhere else," said Hamilton.

The camp has a way to go to get ready for the summer. But by opening, Kingdom Ranch will have activities like an archery range, multiple fishing ponds and an handicap accessible playground. All the ingredients needed for a fun week at camp.
