Police are trying to determine if a trio of robberies within hours and miles of each other in College Station are linked, and they have one suspect to go on.

College Station resident Vance Wade Pullen, 20, was arrested Monday and charged with robbery.
Police believe Pullen was one of three men who held up the Stop 'n Go Sunday just after 10 p.m.
Officers say the clerk was assaulted before the suspects fled the store with stolen items.
That convenience store is located at 1500 Holleman.

Then around 1:00 a.m. Monday, officers say two men broke into a home in the 1600 block of Brentwood.
The suspects held the resident at gunpoint and stole his wallet before fleeing.

Just four hours later at approximately 5:13 a.m., the Lexington Apartments on Holleman were hit.
Two men kicked in an apartment door, held that resident at gunpoint and stole cell phones and watches.
A third suspect stood as look-out outside.

College Station police are trying to determine if the three robberies are connected.

They say they're also looking at any links to the recent rash of hotel robberies.

Holleman area does have HUD ghetto slum Housing. In the 80's no. Today yes. I lived in this area years Back. This area is a Mini-Bryan of crime. It would look like Bryan slums areas if CS code Enforcement was not out doing what CS does best. Tickets. We have good code enforcement. Bryan does not.

What: Are you a welfare rat? If you use my tax money then I am going to talk about. You can feel free to give me my tax money back. Do not take something from me and I will not talk about it. I worked for the money not a welfare rat. These HUD housing areas residents need to be forced to clean up the place they live in. If not kick them out. Bryan would change over night and parts of CS.

I do believe that the root of the majority of the criminal activity does go back to our welfare system! I agree with its intended purpose, but I strongly disagree with our government's current position of paying, housing and feeding people that can work, but refuse to do so. Paying children to have children makes no sense either. TDCJ, as well as most other states penal institutions, is some 30 years behind the times. Anytime there is a growth in population there will be a rise in crime, thus the need for more facilities. This is why our county jails are bursting at the seams holding those inmates ready for placement in TDCJ. They have to release some so that they can take some new ones in. It's known as "Revolving Door Justice". A person sentenced to however many years in our penal institutions should have to complete them day for day at hard labor. This would put some major deterrent back into the minds of the career criminals among us. I know this will never happen though.

For the folks who think Vance was on "HUD" housing, think again. He was not getting welfare, food stamps or any sort of government help. The help he was supposed to receive in TYC from having been a victim of sexual abuse in addition to having been aquited of the same at age 10. Read up on TYC and see how your tax dollars were spent on failed programs. There is no excuse in hurting innocent people, and there is no excuse for how this system failed the children, the parents and society.

I agree with "need my money back". My husband and I are VERY tired of supporting welfare and HUD people. We both work very hard just to try to make ends meet. And having to pay for someone else to have a "house" when we live in a mobile home just does not sit well. To: "what" If I am having to pay your rent, you do not get an opinion. People on welfare and HUD always want more. Therefore they steal what others work VERY HARD for. That is what HUD and FOODSTAMPS has to do with it!!!!!!! Your oppinion of: "why work when I can just steal from taxpayers pockets and then I can also break in their homes and get the rest for free" just chaps my hide!!!!

TO WHAT: You ask what HUD and food stamps have to do with robbery? Well, the two are very similar. If you work for a living, as you claim, the government forcibly extorts money from you, in the form of taxes, and gives it to third parties. If you get robbed a third party forcibly extorts money from you with force or the threat of force. Crime rates are much higher in HUD projects because many of the residents are prone to criminal behavior. This is not my personal opinion, this is a fact. Check out the statistics on arrest and conviction rates of individuals residing in HUD projects and compare the rates to an area of town where there are no residents receiving Lone Start Cards, HUD or welfare. Compare the Holleman area of College Station to Emerald Forrest or Pebble Creek.

What are you clueless? The people that did they crimes came out of HUD Housing ares. Everybody knows that crime is done by the people in Bryan and CS from the slum welfare areas. That big thing that people in this area of CS are living in for free is Called a HUD Housing. Everyone with a normal IQ also knows that people with no education living on Welfare do most of the Crime. What does crime have to do with welfare? Easy answer everything. Why did CSPD have a police office in a HUD housing apartments in this area,a few years back? Crime. Get of the drugs and welfare. It will help clear your mind. I did.

You welfare people want it all. You use my tax money. Then tell us to give you more of our time. Keep your legs closed and pick a proper spouse before having children. It's your mistake that you did not plan for your family, not mine. The tax payer pays for your poor choices. A person that works and is not on welfare. I do not have time to raise your kids and my kids. Do not take tax money if you do not want to hear from us. Are any of these welfare rats paying the money back that you used from us? They working tax payers. Hell no. I self employed 50% out of every dollar I make is for tax's. How would you like to work for everything you have and I come over and take 50% of everything you have once a month.

Vance Pullen is a smooth talker and is good at the game. He cut his ankle monitor off and didn't have to serve but partial amount of time, even after that! Way to go, judge. Release him so he can hit again. Throw away the key! Sympathy to his mom.

I moved into a complex in bryan after being displaced from my home and thrown onto the streets. I was a full time student and employee w/ 2 kids an no place to turn too. Bryan took me into there homeless facil. and got me back on my feet. I live 2 1/2 years in bryan. One of which was with the worst of worst people. I moved into a HUD apartment. I had to start all over with nothing. Instead of talking bad about HUD apartments or Bryan people this, or CS people that; get off your lazy butts and do something about it. Not everyone that lives in bryan is BAD. And not everyone that lives in HUD apart. is BAD. Instead of complaining, join a HOSTS program,or BIG BROTHER, BIG SISTER, volunteer at the after school facil.! If you don't do anything to help, DON'T Complain. YOUR TOWN IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!

The 500% in armed robberies and approx.463% increase in AGG. Assaults in June-08 over June 07 (based on CSPD facts Posted on KBTX) July looks to be another record high crime rate also. Please someone tell us what a bad situation looks like.(Based on past years crime rate facts) True some people have been arrested but alot of people have been robbed and attacked in the last 7 weeks also. Many have also been ticketed M/F daytime also. Most if not all the armed robberies have been weekends and nights.(banks daytime) Almost all the DWI and fights are at night time also. Resource distribution may be necessary to fill in positions at CSPD until we can hire new officers. How many officers is cspd short?

no PD "deals" on this.....felonies go to the DA's office--Pullen is a thug---been in local juvi as well as TYC prior to continuing his criminal history as an adult...he needs to go to the big house...

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 15, 2008 at 10:05 PM
Bryan no facts just words, the dabate wasnt about last year if you would read throughly...The statement was based off of the murder average which was 3.5 not 6 or 7. I'm sorry you misread, thank you

I think that I taught Vance. Isn't he a local CS kid?

Posted by: kasey Location: College Station on Jul 15, 2008 at 06:41 PM
Just to set the record straight on this, the police were called a minute or two after the people left the woman's apartment and they were on the scene in about 30 seconds. They did their job and did it well.

Posted by: Bryan no fact just words. Location: CS on Jul 15, 2008 at 06:40 PM
Just real facts: Texas DPS.org and the Citydata.com have the facts get off the Drugs 6 murders last year all in Bryan 0 in CS

Posted by: Just The REAL Facts Location: Houston on Jul 15, 2008 at 04:45 PM
Just the fact's you're wrong, Bryan averages 3.5 murders per year not 6-7. And If you take a look at property crimes in the 2 cities, You guys are way up there. In most cases more property crimes than Bryan. Oh and good news!!! The CS crime rate is rising dramatically! So enjoy your "low" crime rates while you can! :)

WE, as good people, have got to take control of both OUR communities! Both Bryan and College Station! We have got to teach our children better so they don't grow up to be like this thug! We have to start at home first! Don't blame this on anyone but ourselves! WE have got to do better as parents for our children to be productive in society. Take back your home first! Get help for the children who need it. We will never get this to stop if it's doesn't start changing with the young children now!

Posted by: annonymous Location: Bryan on Jul 15, 2008 at 01:29 PM
Vance Wade Pullen, sex offender, look at his record, bet CSPD trys to give him a deal and he gets a short sentence, how many chances does he get? He is in and out of jail so much, he was out on bond when this happened. I've seen him around town, in that same exact outfit he has in this mugshot, even talked to him. He needs to be put away, so he can stop hurting innocent people.

Posted by: Why CHL? Location: Bryan on Jul 15, 2008 at 12:48 PM
A CHL is just back-door gun registration. You don't need one - 2nd Amendment covers it.

Wanna find the other two? Waterboarding.

Posted by: Gun Slinger Location: College Station on Jul 15, 2008 at 12:26 PM
I just pray if someone breaks into my house my daughter is not here to witness a murder - and it won't be mine!

Posted by: Aggie12 Location: College Station on Jul 15, 2008 at 12:24 PM
Anyone but me notice how quick KBTX takes down blogs about people in trouble in College Station but leaves up ones about people in trouble in Bryan longer? For example, the blog about the arrest of the accounting assistant was only up for a few days, while the one on the pastor from Bryan in trouble was up for almost two weeks. Things that make you say UMMMMH!

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 15, 2008 at 11:31 AM
This is why a Gun and CHL is needed. The phone call to the police ,as the doors was being kicked in did not stop the attack. KBTX needs to get the response times after the call is made to the police. Daytime we have police ,at nights and weekends a few. Put the Ticket police on nights and weekends before someone is raped and murdered. KBTX has only a few facts on this event. The new Chief had a bad 1st month and we are in the 2nd month now. Some change is needed at CSPD.

To Bill Turner: I know you will work to get this dangerous scumbag, and his 2 friends, in prison where they belong for as long as possible. Thank you!

Posted by: T-Bag Location: Walton Hall on Jul 15, 2008 at 10:26 AM
A criminal in College Station??? I cannot believe this. The way the people here talk the only crime that happens is in Bryan. I guess that CS is not as perfect as those of you here claim. Because here we have a ex-offender who chose to live in College Station, not the "ghettos" and "hud homes" of Bryan as you say. I see that CS has it "hood rats" too! I guess not all of CS is like Pebble Creek. lol

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 15, 2008 at 09:08 AM
Really? You say BCS is getting a lot like Houston? I've lived in Houston...Try hearing about murders everyday then whine. Silly CS residents.

Posted by: Kh Location: Bryan on Jul 15, 2008 at 07:57 AM
That stuff never happens in Bryan. They let anyone move into College Station now a days.

Posted by: Anonymous on Jul 15, 2008 at 07:57 AM
This dofus is also a convicted sex offender, victim being a three-year-old girl. Why he is still being able to perpetuate his misbehavior is perplexing.

College Station resident? Ouch that blows

Posted by: Lisa Location: Brazos County on Jul 14, 2008 at 10:34 PM
Well, I see that not only has this Holleman garbage been a guest of Brazos county on numerous occasions he is also a registered sex offender. Crime is a way of life for the vermin residing in that area of College Station.
