Want to find out how the boss is doing? Thanks to the AFL-CIO, you can through a new Web site: paywatch-dot-org.

It carries information for the top-25 pension packages of 2005 as well as a comprehensive database of brand new CEO pay figures.

The labor organization says there's "an enormous gap" between executive compensation and that of rank-and-file workers, noting that in 2004 the average CEO made 431 times more than the average worker.

The US Chamber of Commerce, which represents businesses, says it's easy to look at figures and draw conclusions. It says the big question is why there are CEO's who make big money. The answer, according to the chamber, is that companies want the best talent they can find to lead them, and that doesn't come cheap
