A jury will begin considering the punishment Friday for a College Station woman convicted of having sex with an underage teen.
That same jury deliberated only 90 minutes Thursday evening before finding Laura Cole, 47, guilty of two counts of sexual assault of a child and seven counts of furnishing alcohol to a minor.
Cole was arrested in January 2007, after throwing a slumber party at her home for several of her son's teenaged friends. Some of them testified Cole furnished them with alcohol and marijuana at the party. Later that same night, she invited one of the boys to a bedroom where they had sex.

The woman apparently had designs on the teen male, and offered him the opportunity to become her lover for the evening. I see nothing wrong on either side, and hope she had a great sex event with the teenage boy.
For the record, I am not an attorney and I do not sleep with anyone but my wife. These crimes evoke many emotions in many people, disgust, horror, etc., and it is difficult to maintain objectivity. As a first offense, mitigated by the factors already mentioned, I would think that 16 years is an excessive sentence. Perhaps 10 years with eligibility for parole in 5 would be much more fair. She got convicted, which is what she deserved, but the sentence compared with second degree murder, which does not sound fair at all.
Sounds to me like either you are her attorney or are sleeping with the enemy..she got what she deserved.
