Carolyn Crawford says she has worked for Lakeside Barbeque and Grocery for 23 years. Over the years, she says she's seen numerous accidents outside the window of the storefront, but an accident last week hit close to home.
"These people that's out here flying don't realize that there is mothers and young children in the vehicles," says Carolyn Crawford.
A July 2 accident sent her co-worker and children to a hospital. Crawford says her co-worker injured her arm and won't be able to return to work for several more months.
"I've seen so many accidents and almost been involved in a couple because people just don't pay attention," says biker, Lewis Godwin.
Godwin often travels on Highway 6 from Houston to Waco, and says motorists should be more attentive.
"I'm always staying in that right lane in case something does happen I have a way out," says Godwin.
He suggests crews widen Highway 6 north of O.S.R to a divided multiple lane highway. Meanwhile, Crawford says several people have lost their lives in that problem area, but is grateful her co-worker wasn't seriously injured.
TxDot crews are currently widening Highway 6 south of College Station, and construction is expected to be complete in Spring 2010. TxDot says there are no plans in the works for construction in areas north of O.S.R, but it will keep a close eye on accidents around there and consider their next step.

TxDot Does not know what they are doing. I have told them about trafic siginals in Bryan that they are supposed to control and they don't do anything about them. Those on Villia Maria and Texas Ave, need major adjustment.

Posted by: jenn Location: Milam County on Jul 9, 2009 at 09:33 PM I travel that road all my life and lately a few times a week. If you go 70, you will get RUN OVER! To add to this I was doing about 73 the other day on the way home from Bryan and 2 different 18-wheelers pased me up like I was sitting still. When big trucks like that are driving at speeds this high something deadly could possibly happen!!! TX dot needs to look closer at what has ALREADY happened to prevent anything else from happening!!!! Its horrible.... And I drive hwy 6 everyday to school!!!

If you can't drive, stay in the far right hand lane!
