*Wednesday Afternoon Update* The football- field sizes generator that four trucks spent two days pushing and pulling up Highway 6 from Hearne was parked in Riesel Wednesday night after passing through Marlin earlier in the day.

If all goes as planned, a Texas Department of Transportation spokesman said the giant generator, which is 39-feet wide, 18-feet high, as long as a football field and weighs 1.7 million pounds, will be delivered to the Sandy Creek Power Plant just outside of Riesel.

But the weather could put a damper on plans.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from early Thursday until 6 p.m. Friday and forecaster say there’s a chance of snow.

It took several hours Wednesday for the big load to pass through the Marlin on Highway 6.

Northbound motorists were advised to detour onto Business Highway 6 on the south side of Marlin.

*Tuesday Afternoon Update* The wide load continued its journey this morning moving North on Hwy 6 North of Hearne. Around 11 AM traffic was blocked in both directions on Hwy 6 halfway between Hearne and Calvert. Traffic resumed moving around 11:40 AM. The generator is scheduled to park just north of Calvert for the evening.

*Monday Afternoon Update* Contrary to reports earlier from TXDOT the generator did not move today and is still at Hwy 79 and Hwy 6 in Hearne. It's expected to move through Calvert Tuesday, but that will depend on whether or not it rained.

*Monday Morning Update* The wide load is moving again. Travelers Northbound on Hwy 6 from Hearne can expect some delays. The huge generator will move to it's resting spot for the night, just north of Calvert.

**Friday afternoon update* The load will resume its move on the morning of Monday, February 8. It is scheduled to proceed to Calvert, where it will park overnight.
At this time, the load is parked in the stockpile area on US 79 near the intersection of Old Franklin highway, just north of the SH 6/ US 79 interchange north of Hearne. It is not blocking any lanes of travel.

*Monday Afternoon Update* The load remains parked in the stockpile area on US 79 near the intersection with Old Franklin Highway, just north of the SH 6/US 79 interchange north of Hearne.
At this time, it is not known when the load will begin moving again.

*Friday Morning Update* No travel today due to weather. The load is unable to move today due to the rain. Although the rain should clear out by lunch, the roadway on US 79 will be too wet to get the traction required to pull in some sections.

The load is currently parked on the south end of Franklin between E. South St. and S. Owensville St. FM 46 is closed between these two streets which is a very short detour (one block) with no driveways on FM 46 in between them.

Saturday...Weather permitting, the load will continue north on FM 46 into Franklin and turn south on US 79 in the morning. It will park at the stockpile area north of the SH 6/US 79 interchange near the intersection of US 79 and Old Franklin Highway.

Sunday...Continue south on US 79 to SH 6. Head north on SH 6 toward Calvert. Park on north side of Calvert on SH 6 in wide paved median area.

Monday...Continue north on SH 6 to the Falls County Line.

Tuesday or Wednesday...Reach destination in Riesel.

*Thursday Afternoon Update* Mammoet parked the load on the south end of Franklin between E. South St. and S. Owensville St. FM 46 is closed between these two streets which is a very short detour (one block) with no driveways on FM 46 in between them.

*Wednesday Afternoon Update* Mammoet parked the load in front of the Conoco Phillips plant on FM 46. Their equipment and trucks are parked between there and the Cedar Creek bridge. FM 46 is closed from Henry Prairie Church Road to Henry Prairie Road (north intersection). Traffic can detour on Henry Prairie or Henry Prairie Church Road. If necessary, traffic can get around the equipment.

Thursday they will continue north on FM 46 to Cedar Creek Bridge to park for the night. FM 46 will be blocked from Henry Prairie Road (north intersection) to Henry Prairie Church Road. Traffic will detour down Henry Prairie Road to Henry Prairie Church Road.

Weather permitting, the load will continue down FM 46 and turn south on US 79 on Friday. Saturday they will continue south on US 79 to SH 6. Head north on SH 6 toward Calvert.

*Tuesday Afternoon Update*
The generator has stopped for the evening at FM 46 and Morris Branch Bridge.
Wednesday they will continue north on FM 46 to the Cedar Creek Bridge. On Wednesday FM 46 will be blocked from Henry Prairie Road (north intersection) to Henry Prairie Church Road. Traffic will detour down Henry Prairie Road to Henry Prairie Church Road.

*Monday Afternoon Update* The generator is moving up OSR from Hwy 6 towards FM 46. The transport will park for the night on FM 46 around the Copperas Creek Bridge.

*Sunday Evening Update* The generator is parked at Highway 6 and OSR for the night. Starting at 8:00 a.m. Monday, the generator will head down OSR to F.M. 46 and park on F.M. 46 Monday night. TXDOT says Motorists should avoid that portion of OSR Monday.

*Saturday Evening Update* The wide load is currently parked for the night on the Northbound feeder of the intersection of Highway 6 and north Texas Avenue in Bryan.

*Saturday Afternoon Update* The wide load is currently moving on the Northbound feeder of Highway 6, just before Briarcrest.

*Friday Afternoon/Evening Update* The wide load's travels has come to an end for Friday. It's overnight resting place is at Hwy 6 and University Dr (FM 60)where workers have constructed a ramp and landing pad for the giant generator.

*Friday Afternoon Update* As of noon the wide load was moving past Green's Prairie on Highway 6 north along the access road. A ramp to come off the access road for it's overnight stop has been constructed at Highway and University Drive (FM 60)

*Friday Morning Update*
The mammoth move associated with the giant generator is preparing to move into South College Station. It's resting stop will be University Drive (FM60) & Hwy 6 where a ramp and landing pad have been laid down for it's stop.

Here is a turn by turn route of the "wide load" through the weekend as it meanders through the Brazos Valley. This route has and can change. Rain also plays a role in schedules and routes..

*Thursday Afternoon/Evening Update* The mammoth move associated with the giant generator has stopped for the day at the Peach Creek area on Hwy 6. Friday's move will begin around 8:30AM along Hwy 6. By days end they plan to park at Hwy 6 & University Drive (FM 60). A landing pad was under construction Thursday in anticipation of Friday's evening stop.

*Update Thursday Afternoon*
Traffic is moving smoother after backups most of the morning on Highway 6. The giant generator is nearing the Westward Ho Exit on Highway 6 Northbound.

Earlier in the day a transport worker was hit behind the generator by another vehicle. His injuries are not life threatening.

*Thursday Morning*
Traffic is backed up for miles on Highway 6 Northbound as the giant generator began inching its way to the Brazos County line from Navasota. Motorists are very angry that there were no warnings on Highway 6 to expect delays.

TX Dot says drivers who want to avoid the area can detour to SH 90 north, FM 244 N, to SH 30 W, back to SH 6.

By late Thursday afternoon the transport should park just past the Peach Creek Bridge at the closed ramp inside Brazos County.

*Wednesday Afternoon*
The transport of the giant generator moved to FM 3090 in Grimes County Wednesday afternoon. They will begin moving Thursday morning around 8:30 and plan to park just past the Peach Creek Bridge at the closed ramp in Brazos County.

*Wednesday Morning Update*
The generator and transport was able to move to just west of Plantersville yesterday and park at FM 2445 overnight. If the weather holds, they will begin moving around 9am and try to make it across the Navasota River into Brazos County today.

**Tuesday Afternoon Update**

The generator and transport have made it to Plantersville and Hwy 105 for the evening. It begins inching it's way down 105 Wednesday on it's way to Navasota.

*Tuesday Morning Update*

The wide, long load has started it's slow crawl to Plantersville. Expect delays along FM 1488 from Magnolia to FM 1774 to Plantersville. It's estimated the transport will make Plantersville by late afternoon.

*Monday Afternoon Update*
The super heavy load was able to move to the intersection of FM 149 and FM 1488 in Magnolia today. Beginning Tuesday at 9am they plan to start moving towards Plantersville on FM 1774.

*Monday Morning Update*
The wide load is now moving during daytime hours, having spent Sunday night in Montgomery. For the next several days, the transport will be traveling on FM 149 South to Magnolia to FM 1488 then to FM 1774. The transport will then wind back around to Hwy 105 at Plantersville. Those heading up the transport say it should be in Navasota by Thursday or Friday. At this time the heavy load will not make College Station until Saturday or Sunday. As it has in the past, rain can delay movement and route of the transport.

*Sunday Update*
The generator was able to move to the west side of Conroe and park in Montgomery Saturday night. They plan to move to the intersection of F.M. 149 and F.M. 1488 Sunday evening.

*Saturday Update*
Overnight rains and overall wet conditions East & West of Conroe kept the transport from traveling. So the generator is still in Cut And Shoot East of Conroe on Hwy105. These rain delays mean the convoy won't move into Montgomery until Sunday morning. That is is if it moves again tonight. At this schedule it will be Monday or Tuesday before it moves through the Magnolia Plantersville area on Hwy 105 on it's way to Navasota. At that point it will start to move by day. The transport has been moving by night since it left the Port of Houston earlier in the month.

*'Friday Update*
Friday Morning
The huge transport of the almost 2 million pound generator did not move overnight. It was schedule to be just west of Conroe on Hwy 105 near the community of Montgomery. However, overnight rains forced them to cancel the move. Because of the rain delay the transports schedule may be off a day. Since it only moves an average of 10 Miles Per Day, it make it difficult to make up time. At this point it is moving by night. The original plan was to have it switch to day time moves once it got into TXDOT's Bryan District or somewhere between Magnolia and Plantersville.

Thursday Morning
The transport made it to Cut And Shoot just east of Conroe on Hwy 105. The big load is moving at night and is expected to be just west Conroe near Montgomery by Friday morning. However the rain in the area may delay the progress.

Wednesday Morning:
The transport is in Cleveland near the Hwy 105 Hwy 59 intersection. It is expected to be in Cut & Shoot later tonight. At this point the transport and all of the support vehicles are only traveling at night. Once it get's through Montgomery (Sunday) it will begin traveling by day. We will continue to follow the movement and report on it here daily.

It will be big and slow. And if you get behind it you better allow plenty of time to get where you are going.

TX DOT is warning motorists about a super-heavy load moving through the Brazos Valley in the coming weeks.

The 39-feet-wide, 18-feet-high, 308-foot-long generator weighs approximately 1.7 million pounds and is moving from the Port of Houston to Riesel, Texas. It will be used at the power plant being constructed in Riesel. Because of it's size the truck and trailer carrying it will crawl along at a very slow pace.

As of Tuesday morning the generator was near the SH 321/SH 105 intersection south of Cleveland. If everything goes correctly this it's time frame:

Grimes County (Magnolia)...Sun., Jan 17
Navasota...Wed., Jan 20
College Station...Fri., Jan 22
OSR...Sat., Jan 23

*This load will enter the Bryan District on SH 105 in Grimes County and continue north on SH 6 into Brazos County and on to OSR.
*From OSR, they will travel north on FM 46 in Robertson County,
* to US 79, then back to SH 6.
* The load will then travel SH 6 north into the Waco District.

Because of the overall mass of this super heavy generator, unusual routes will be taken on the above roadways to move the load. This load will move an average of 10 miles per day.

Police will escort this oversized load to assist with traffic control for this move. Motorists are asked to be patient, use caution, and observe all traffic control devices and personnel.

To give you an idea of the special transport designed to carry an almost 2 million pound generator, the trailer has 36 axles and 144 wheels to evenly distribute the weight across the vehicle. Without that special design, road engineers say the generator, truck and trailer would sink into even the sturdiest of roadways.

Mammoet, USA has received a permit to transport this super heavy load through our area.

Believe it or not It is too heavy to transport by rail. The generator couldnt be moved because of the weather, so because of this the permits expired. They had to repermit the load. The company building the power plant is a non-profit coop. Coal is the cheapest way to fire power plants. This generator will produce power, which in turn stabilizes the grid.

"Normally the heavy loads are transported by rail to the nearest rail head." Even when the load is so wide that it will take down every crossing gate and cantilever bridge between the dock and the heavy hauler? Most rail ROWs are 30 ft wide, this beast is 39...
