Some local veterans celebrated the fourth of July at the American Legion in Bryan with an indoor picnic.
Rain caused members of Post #159 to move the festivities inside early Wednesday afternoon.
Veterans whom served in several different conflicts gathered together to eat and talk about old times.
Legion Post #159 Commander David Marion said the July 4 picnic commemorates the 231st birthday of the establishment our country's cornerstone.
"Today we celebrate our liberty, our freedom and this representative democracy that we were given by our forefathers," Marion said.
Kids at the post made welcome home signs for troops returning home this weekend.
