With a week until school starts at Texas A&M, a professor and Head of the Department of Communications has reportedly jumped to his death.
Dr James Aune was found dead by the Northside Parking Garage on the Texas A&M campus along University Drive just after 10:30 Tuesday morning.
A University Police spokesperson says foul play was not suspected, however police were looking into gathering more information to release to the public.
Aune's department biography lists that he was a published, award winning author and a distinguished teacher, having won the Association of Former Students Teaching Award in 2004. The site lists his specializations as in the areas of Rhetorical Theory, Philosophy of Communication, and Legal Rhetoric.
Aune came to Texas A&M as an Associate Professor in 1996. He became the Department Head of the Department of Communications in 2011.
Aune gained his Ph. D. from Northwestern University in 1980.
