BAGRAM, AFGHANISTAN News 3's Steve Fullhart and Rachel Cox from KWTX News 10 in Waco are on assignment covering Texans serving in Afghanistan.

Super Bowl Sunday in the United States is an early Super Bowl Monday at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan, but the 4:00 a.m. kickoff didn't stop soldiers from getting up early or staying up late.

Dining facilities across the base had the game on televisions, along with the USO. Servicemen and women took in the Seattle Seahawks victory over the Denver Broncos.

While some were diehard fans of the two teams -- including Seattle and Denver-area natives at the Grady Dining Facility -- others just wanted to take in the game, no matter the hour.

Saturday and Sunday in Afghanistan were rainy, a rarity in these parts. Soldiers say the last measurable rainfall was early January, and some who have been deployed since the summer say they can count on one hand how many times they've seen rain.

Pavement and sidewalks are a little bit harder to come by in Bagram. Many roads and foot paths are just dirt and rocks which turn slippery and messy. The good news: the enemy here doesn't generally like to come out when it's like that.
