BRYAN - Members of the community came together Saturday afternoon to hold a benefit for a Rockdale child with an incurable disease.

Matthew Mitchell, a 3-year-old, has Juvenile Dermatomyositis, an auto immune disease that is causing his muscles to rapidly deteriorate and his lungs to collapse.

Doctors at the Texas Children's Hospital in Houston said the disease is extremely rare and unfortunately there is no cure the the toddler. However, family and friends remain hopeful that Matthew will recover and said they are incredible grateful for the community's support and their prayers.

An account has been set up to help Matthew and his family.
