Investigators have received information from other law enforcement sources that the suspect in this case is similar in appearance and method of operation to a suspect in several other bank robberies across the state and in Arkansas.
The suspect in question is being associated with the bank robber known as the “Loan Ranger Bandit.”
A bank robbery in College Station had cops feeling deja vu Friday morning. For the second time in 8 months the Fedstar Credit Union
on Harvey Road was robbed.
Investigators say the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
It was around 11:30 Friday morning that College Station police responded to a robbery at the Fedstar Credit Union on Harvey Road.
Police are still looking for the man they say robbed the credit union in broad daylight. The man, seen in surveillance video, walked in and pulled a gun then demanded cash. He then walked behind the building to nearby apartment complex and drove away.
Police tell News 3 the suspect is a white male in his 20s, wearing glasses. He's around 6 feet tall, medium build with stubble-like facial hair. He was wearing long black basketball shorts, black high top shoes, and a black zipped up nylon jacket and black baseball cap backwards with a "green shamrock".
The vehicle is described as a small blue or silver vehicle. It was last heading north on Stallings Drive.
Investigators weren't at the credit union long. Moments later, they moved in on an area near University Drive and Texas Avenue.
"They had good reason to believe that he might be in this area and so they took every precaution and searched the buildings in this area basically combing of this neighborhood," said Colin Killian with the City of College Station.
Investigators did focus on a dumpster near the businesses off Eisenhower, eventually towing it to another location to search the contents.
This is the same location where a robbery occurred back in December 2011. That robbery ended with the suspect escaping on a Texas A&M campus bus, which resulted in a code maroon being issued.
No arrest has been made yet in either robbery.
