COLLEGE STATION - Firefighters battled a house fire in the 4300 block of Whispering Creek Dr. in College Station Thursday night.
Neighbors say there was heavy smoke showing after they heard what they described as a loud explosion. A number of fire engines responded to the area, and streets were blocked off so emergency responders could get in quickly. The fire broke out sometime near 9pm.
The fire affected a multi-unit townhome, and those on scene said the residents were not inside at the time of the fire. Neighbors say two dogs that lived on location were also uninjured.
Damage to the home was extensive, and late Thursday firefighters said they continued to battle flames in the attic. Fire investigators have not yet said what they believed caused the fire.
