A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH has been issued for Lee, Leon, Milam, and Robertson Counties until 1:00 am Sunday morning. A line of rain and thunderstorms will be possible between sunset and midnight -- moving in from the north & west. Some storms could be strong to severe. If these storms can reach the area, they could pose a localized flooding & damaging wind threat.
The Flu season continues has come early this year and Thursday health officials say the H1N1 strain claimed the life of a Houston Teenager.
Texas Children’s hospital reports seven children have been admitted with the flu right now - three are in Intensive Care. The CDC says there have been four pediatric deaths nationwide from the flu. Texas, Alabama, Louisiana and New York remain hotspots for flu activity. But doctors there say in flu season - this isn't out of the ordinary. Many people are scrambling to get not only themselves vaccinated -- but their children as well.
"I don't want people to have the idea that they should have panic. They should get vaccinated. That's the most important thing, said Legacy Community Health Services Dr. Omar Matuk.
Brazos County Health Officials say we're seeing a local spike in reported flu cases here, but have seen no serious H1N1 complications in our area. Disease forecasters say this year's flu season could last as late as March, or beyond. Health officials say it is the 13th death from the H1N1 flu virus this year.
