Elmer Vanhoorebeke, a former City of College Station employee who now is with Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency, lost his son this week in a motorcycle accident in Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Elmer "Fudd" Vanhoorebeke, Jr. worked for the City of College Station before joining the U.S. Marines in 2010. He was deployed to Afghanistan in 2012 and was due to return home April 12. The two-motorcycle collision, which killed both riders, occurred in the Mojave Desert near the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms.
Corp. Vanhoorebeke, 27, is survived by his parents and four siblings. He also leaves behind his girlfriend, her daughter and the entire Marine family. Services were held Saturday, April 12th at The Aggie Field of Honor in College Station.
