A TORNADO WARNING has been issued for south Brazos and Grimes counties until 7:00pm. A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING has been issued for Lee, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Madison, Montgomery, and Walker counties until 6:45pm. A TORNADO WATCH has been issued for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, and Washington Counties. until 10pm. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is in effect for Milam, Robertson, Leon Counties until 9pm Monday, for Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Madison, Montgomery,San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, and Washington Counties until 12am Tuesday, and for Lee county until 1am Tuesday. A FLASH FLOOD WARNING is in effect for Lee county until 12:15am Tuesday, Milam and Robertson counties until 7:30pm, Leon, Brazos, and Burleson counties until 8:15pm. An additional widespread 1" to 3" rain accumulations are possible through the evening, with locally higher amounts possible.
NEW BADEN, Texas - An oil field worker is in critical condition after an explosion in Robertson County.
Wednesday afternoon some oil tanks caught fire just east of Franklin off Highway 79 near New Baden on Rabe Cutoff.
The 25-year-old worker was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Sources say an oil well was being capped and was operated by Finaly Resources.
Robertson County Sheriff's Investigator Steve Misterek says the man was the only one on the site at the time of the fire.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and ATF Agents are investigating the incident which at this time is believed to have been an industrial accident.
The man's name has not been released yet pending notification of family.
