Oil Rig Fire in Milam County

Monday Afternoon Update:

Residents near the oil well fire in Milano say the fire is still burning. neighbors say that a team from Boots & Coots, the world-renowned oil and gas firefighting organization, are on the scene.

Residents have also been told that they fire could take as long as two weeks to finally put out.


An oil rig fire in Milano, TX is sending thick smoke into the sky. Rockdale Police tell News 3 that the fire started just before 2 a.m. near County Road 230 in Milam County.

At noon, no residents have been evacuated. Several fire and rescue teams are on site including Milano Fire, Rockdale, Burleson County and Black Jack. The cause of the fire is under investigation. According to the Milam County Sherrif's Office the fire has been contained. There are no reports of injuries.

Officials say it could take several days to put the fire out.
