JOHANNESBURG - - Oscar Pistorius' track career is on hold indefinitely because of his murder charge in South Africa.
Pistorius' agent says he's been forced to cancel all future races, so Pistorius can concentrate on defending himself against allegations he murdered his model girlfriend by shooting her several times in his upscale house on Valentine's Day morning.
That reinforces the possibility that the double-amputee Olympian and disabled sports icon might never run again competitively on his famous carbon fiber blades.
Reeva Steenkamp died from gunshot wounds suffered inside Pistorius' Pretoria home in the predawn hours of Thursday. Pistorius was arrested and charged with her murder the same day. His family denies he murdered her.
The runner's agent says Pistorius' sponsorships, including with big-name brands Nike and Oakley, are safe for now. He says "all parties are supportive and their contractual commitments are maintained."
