WASHINGTON COUNTY Several people were arrested this past weekend in Washington county.

A La Grange man remains in the Washington County Jail after an early morning traffic stop by Washington County Sheriff’s Deputy Jonathan Prior.

41 year old Lee Andrew Conner was parked at the AAA Storage/U-Haul facility on Highway 36 North Sunday morning in 29 degree temperatures, when Deputy Prior, while on routine patrol, noticed that the car was occupied.

When Deputy Prior activated the emergency lights on the patrol car, the driver exited his vehicle and approached the patrol car. When asked for identification, Mr. Conner provided a false name and birth date.

After noticing several Swisher Sweets cigars and other items consistent with marijuana use, Mr. Conner gave permission for Deputy Prior to search the vehicle. Two prescription bottles with the name Lee Conner were discovered along with a Texas Offender’s Identification Card issued by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division that identified Mr. Conner as Lee Andrew Conner.

Conner was arrested for Failure to Identify/Give False Information/Fugitive from Justice. Brenham Emergency Communications confirmed that Conner had two outstanding Criminal Non-Support Warrants from Fayette County and a Parole Violation warrant from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice - Institutional Division. No bond was set.

A suspicious vehicle stopped in a driveway on Chappell Hill Road in Washington County has led to the arrest of a 33 year old Brenham woman.

Deputies were patrolling Sunday evening when they observed a 1997 pick-up truck stopped in a private driveway. Deputies watched the suspicious vehicle momentarily and the vehicle soon departed.

Deputies observed an equipment violation, stopped the vehicle and determined the registration was expired, the inspection certificate was expired, and the driver failed to possess a valid driver license or insurance. The driver did produce an Identification Card which identified her as 33 year old Mariya Elizabeth Williams. Deputies also learned Williams was a convicted felon.

Williams was placed into custody for driving while License Invalid with No Insurance and Expired Registration. An inventory of the vehicle yielded a .40 caliber Ruger pistol. Due to Williams being a convicted felon she was also charged with Unlawful Possession of a firearm by a felon. William’s bond was posted at $11,250.00 and she remains in the Washington County Jail.

On, Friday, Washington County Sheriff's Office Investigators, assisted by members of the Brenham Police Department, executed a felony arrest warrant for Aggravated Robbery at a residence on Alois Lane.

29 year old Brenham resident Jose Edward Vasquez was arrested. The Aggravated Robbery warrant resulted from an investigation conducted by the Washington County Sheriff's Office in June in which the victim was an individual over the age of 65 and suffered serious bodily injury during a theft.

Information indicated Vasquez fled Washington County the day of the Robbery and had recently returned. Vasquez was booked into the Washington County Jail and is being held under a $500,000.00 bond.
