CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) A South Texas man who thought he was negotiating online with a mother offering her juvenile daughters for sex has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.
A federal judge in Corpus Christi on Wednesday sentenced 30-year-old Daniel Ricardo Barrientos. A jury in March convicted the Corpus Christi man of soliciting a child for sex through the Internet.
Prosecutors say an undercover Corpus Christi police officer portrayed herself as a mother with daughters ages 12 and 14 seeking an adult to have sex with the girls. Investigators say Barrientos responded via email, text and telephone saying he wanted to perform various sex acts with the children.
Barrientos has been in custody since his December arrest.
