COLLEGE STATION A Texas A&M women's basketball player has been suspended from the team after turning herself into police for an assault charge.

21 year old sophomore Rachel Mitchell turned herself in on Wednesday and is out of jail on a $4,000 bond.

Police say it stems from an incident in October at an apartment complex in the 300 block of Marion Pugh Drive in College Station.

A woman told police Mitchell punched her in the face because she was in a taxi that temporarily parked in Mitchell's designated parking space.

No word yet on how long her suspension from the team may last.
