BRYAN - Motorists driving north on Highway 6 will not be able to exit at Briarcrest Drive (FM 1179) for the next three months.
On Friday, the Texas Department of Transportation will close the exit and entrance ramps on northbound Highway 6 between University and Briarcrest Drive (FM1179). New ramps will be built.
The left lane of the northbound frontage road between University and Briarcrest will also be closed so crews can widen the road for a future auxiliary lane between the two new ramps.
The speed limit in the construction zone will be reduced to 60 mph.
The closures and speed zone are expected to be in place for approximately three months. The work is part of the $9.6 million dollar SH 6 Ramps Project.
On Thursday, TxDOT reopened the exit and entrance ramps between University and Harvey Road (Hwy 30) on Thursday. They had been closed since April 15.
